About Me

My name is Emma Brockhurst and I am an HCPC registered Art Therapist and a member of BAAT.

I have always had a passion for all things creative and after graduating from Birmingham City University in 2010 where I gained a BA degree in Fine Art, I took my love for creativity and combined it with volunteering in various mental health settings. I truly believe in the transformative power of art and creativity when it comes to mental health. After years of working with people experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties I started my training as an art therapist in 2014 at Hertfordshire University and in 2017 I graduated with a Masters degree in art therapy. Since then, I have worked in a variety of different settings including a hospice, schools and a homeless support centre running groups and individual therapy sessions

My therapeutic approach is client-led, working with whatever the client wants to explore and process during the sessions. Each person has an individual story and experiences and the art therapy process can be flexible in the way that it supports and aids personal reflection.

Alongside my private practice I also work with children and adolescents as a freelance art therapist, I run Sketch Social creative groups for children and parents/carers and I am also a practicing artist.
